HOW TO MAKE MATCHA TEA SYRUP

Matcha Tea has seen a significant rise in its popularity within the last few years with many "trendy" New Yorkers moving away from the poison that is coffee, to this healthier, energizing, green liquid. It is extremely high in antioxidants, which help prevent aging and chronic disease, and it also helps burn calories, and detox the body. Talk about healthy drinking!

With Matcha on the up and up, I took a stab at creating a Matcha Tea Syrup to accent my most recent recipe - the Matcha Gin + Tonic. It adds a unique green tea flavor, along with a beautiful green hue, and some antioxidants as well. Here is how you make it:

Matcha Tea Syrup:

2 Barspoons Matcha Tea Powder
4 oz Water
3 oz Sugar
Note: This recipe can be scaled, just keep the same ratio.

Step 1: Mix all ingredients in a pan over heat; whisk ingredients vigorously, otherwise the powder will clump.
Step 2: Let the mix simmer for about 5-7mins and continue to mix until completely dissolved.
Step 3: Once all ingredients are dissolved, let the syrup cool for 7-10mins, then bottle.
